Marquette’s Allie Barber picks up her fifth Big East Offensive Player of the Week honor this week after helping the Golden Eagles to an unbeaten week. Also earning honors this week are Creighton’s Jaali Winters and Marquette’s Hope Werch.
Offensive Player of the Week
Allie Barber – Marquette – sophomore
Barber has been on fire this season, garnering her fifth Big East Offensive Player of the Week honor. On the week, Barber posted an average of 6.31 points and 5.12 kills per set – both being league highs. Additionally, Barber posted a Big East high five aces on the weekend.
Against Seton Hall, Barber posted a career-best 30 kills on a .352 hitting clip along with eight digs. Barber followed up that performance with 11 kills in the team’s sweep over St. John’s.
Defensive Player of the Week
Jaali Winters – Creighton – junior
Winters averaged 4.57 digs per set to earn the Defensive Player of the Week nod. Against Providence, Winters picked up 19 digs along with 12 kills for her sixth double-double of the season. In the following match, Winters added another 13 digs and seven digs.
Freshman of the Week
Hope Werch – Marquette – freshman
This is Werch’s second Big East Freshman of the Week accolade after she posted 3.06 points and 2.75 kills per set for the week. Werch also added 2.62 digs per set. Against Seton Hall, Werch posted a double-double of 12 kills and 16 digs.
