Modena, in the Italian Women’s Volleyball Serie A1 league, has picked up Serbia’s Mina Tomic for the 2017-18 season.

Tomic is dominant from both the outside and opposite attack. She helped Khimik Yuzhny to the Ukrainian Championship and Cup in each of the four seasons she was with the squad. Before her stint in the Ukraine, Tomic won the Serbian Championship and Cup in each of the two years prior.

Tomic has been playing professional volleyball for nearly 10 years now and is only 23 years old. Modena will be her fifth club since beginning her career:

  • 2008-09 – Postar 064 (Serbia)
  • 2009-10 – ZOK Jedinstvo (Serbia)
  • 2010-12 – Red Star (Serbia)
  • 2012-13 – Inactive
  • 2013-17 – Khimik Youjne (Ukraine)

Tomic will be supported by a number of athletes that Modena has brought in so far in Laura Partenio, Raffaelaa Calloni, Veronica Bisconti, Madelaynne Montano, Giulia Pincerato and Katarina Barun-Susnjar. As well, the team has extended the contracts of Ilaria Garzaro, Laura Heyrman, Caterina Bosetti, Francesca Ferretti and Giulia Leonardi.

Last season, Modena made it to the finals of the Italian Superleague but came up short against Novara.
