A Muncie Community School volleyball coach has been accused of repeatedly having sex with one of his players. Nolan Michael Brand, 24, was arrested earlier this month and has been charged with three counts of sexual misconduct with a minor, according to the Delaware County Jail.
It was made aware by the school district after the 15-year-old student made allegations of sexual misconduct against Brand, to which Muncie Community Schools contacted Muncie police and Child Protective Services. It was found that the two had Snapchat messages shared between the victim and Brand. Also found were nude photos and videos of them having sex on Brand’s phone.
In an interview with Brand, he admitted to having sex with the girl in his home and car more than a dozen times in the past two months. The girl would come over to get help with homework but Brand said they became more “emotionally involved.”
Muncie Police Captain, Joseph Todd said, “He was very remorseful, very truthful with investigators and admitted to all of the allegations that he was ultimately charged with.”
Brand was an assistant volleyball coach at Central High School at the time of the inappropriate relationship; additionally, Brand coached for local Munciana Volleyball Club to which he was officially terminated following the charges. Brand’s employment with Muncie Community Schools ended on October 14, 2017, and passed all background checks to get the job – at the time of his arrest, he was not employed with the school.
