The NCAA has announced their top-four seeds of the NCAA Tournament – Florida, Kentucky, Penn State and Stanford (in alphabetical order) these teams claim the #1 seed in their region and automatically claim hosting honors for the First and Second Rounds of the tournament.

Florida
- The Gators clinch a #1 seed in the tournament after a 25-1 showing, losing only to Kentucky this season
- Florida took home their 23rd SEC championship
- 7th in national attendance
Kentucky
- Kentucky earns a wildcard #1 spot in the tournament with a 26-3 record
- The Wildcats took down then-#1 Florida earlier in the season but fell to them in the second meeting in the SEC for a 17-1 SEC record
- Co-SEC Champions with Florida
Penn State
- Penn State was the obvious choice to receive a top-four selection in the tournament with a dominant 29-1 record on the year
- The Nittany Lions claimed a share of the Big Ten title – their 17th in program history, sharing with Nebraska – with whom is their only loss of the year and their first time being swept at home in 15 years
Stanford
- Stanford, another obvious choice, slid into the top-four after a 26-3 season
- The Cardinals claimed the Pac-12 title with a 19-1 record, losing to Washington just two weeks ago
- Stanford returns a large number of their core group that won the 2016 national title
