Nebraska is getting a head start on its 2021 recruiting class, as they’ve added a commitment from Alexis Rodriguez, a libero from Illinois.

Rodriguez isn’t the only commit for 2021 already for Nebraska. The move for comes along with Lindsay Krause, a fellow eighth grader about to become a freshman in high school, who committed to Nebraska from Premier Nebraska Volleyball Club.

At 5’4″, Rodriguez still has plenty of time to grow and change positions, but at the moment is listed as a libero. It would remain likely she stays there, as Nebraska has shown an affinity to value defense and the libero position over the years.

“The coaches said they value that (libero) position a lot, and the assistant coach (Kayla Banwarth) was a libero at Nebraska and she was in the Olympics,” Rodriguez told Brent C. Wagner of the Lincoln Journal Star in the Husker Extra. “I think they know what they’re looking for, and I tried to do my best and they said they liked me.”

In the coming fall, Rodriguez will be attending Sterling High School. She is currently a part of the Sports Performance VBC in Aurora, Illinois, where she won an AAU National Championship this summer. Rodriguez earned MVP honors in that tournament.
