No. 8 Washington Rolls Through Arizona In Three To Advance To Elite 8

No. 8 Washington dominates Arizona in a three set sweep. The Huskies held Arizona to a .110 hitting percentage with 30 blocks in the match.

Arizona led early in the first set, with a 5-4 lead. The Huskies tied it up before leading and keeping that lead the remainder of the set. Washington went on a 16-5 run to lead 20-9. The Huskies kept the giant lead taking the second 25-15.

The entire second set was a back and forth battle between the two teams. Tied up late at 22 a piece, three Kendra Dahlke attack errors ended the set at 25-22 in Washington’s favor.

The third set began with a 4-4 tie, before Washington went on a 4-0 run taking an 8-4 lead over Arizona. The set got out of Arizona’s control at 11-10 when Washington went on another 4-0 run, going up 15-10. The Wildcats couldn’t hold on, staying at least three points behind the remainder of the set, before dropping the match 25-18.

Leading Washington was Crissy Jones with a double-double of 11 kills and 10 digs, hitting for .476 and adding six blocks. Tia Scambray and Courtney Schwan each added 11 kills. Defensively, Kara Bajema put down eight blocks and Avie Niece added six blocks.

For Arizona, Kendra Dahlke hammered down 14 kills and picked up seven digs. Kalei Mau added nine kills and seven digs. In the back row, Laura Larson and McKenna Painton each picked up 10 digs.
