Northland Christian Takes Missouri Class 1 State Title In Sweep

The 2016 Missouri High School Volleyball Championships have concluded, having taken place at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Class 1

Northland Christian took down Valle Catholic 2-0, (25-23, 25-20). Rachel Sturdevant put down 12 kills, while Virginia Kruse added eight kills and eight digs. Setter Rebekah Rothacher produced a double-double with 14 assists and 13 digs.

Leading Valle Catholic was Hannah Bahr with eight kills and 10 digs.

Class 2

St. Pius X(Festus) had no troubles defeating Hermann 2-0, (25-10, 25-18). For St. Pius X, Jena Otec put down 14 kills and eight digs. Shelby Meyer picked up nine digs in the back row.

Kaileigh Tyree put down six kills for Hermann.

Class 3

Lutheran South fought to take down Pleasant Hill 2-0, (25-23, 25-21). Leketor Member-Meneh produced a double-double with 19 kills and 10 digs for Lutheran South. In the back court, Samantha Brinkman swooped up 13 digs, Livia Sandt picked up 12 digs, while Peyton Van Nest added 11 digs.

For Pleasant Hill, Logan Gish put down seven kills, while Paige Johnson picked up 10 digs and Courtney Wesemann added 12 digs.

Class 4

Lafayette (Wildwood) had a battle to take down Francis Howell in three sets, (20-25, 27-25, 25-21). Merry Gebel recorded a double-double with 13 kills and 22 digs. Staciana Stock put down 16 kills, while Hannah Flowers added 11 kills and eight digs. In the back row, Kailey Kantouth picked up 19 digs.

Mikayla Hardy produced a double-double with 18 kills and 15 digs, while Emma Witter added 14 kills. Defensively Alexa Brugere was impressive with 44 digs in the loss.
