Former UC Irvine commit Josie Cole is joining the Oregon Beach volleyball team for the 2018 season ahead. Cole will be a freshman in the upcoming spring and will have four years left of play.
Cole initially had plans to go to UC Irvine as a freshman in 2017, and was even listed in the team’s preseason preview. For whatever reason though, she didn’t play for UC Irvine and according to her former club team (Carioca Volleyball Club), rescinded the offer. She then later committed to the University of Oregon in October with plans of joining the beach team in the spring of 2018.
Cole comes in out of Campolindo High School in California where she was a four year varsity player indoors. Her success earned her a listing on the AVCA Phenom List in 2014 and 2015.
On the club circuit, Cole played with several indoor teams in addition to the Carioca Volleyball Club in the sand. In fact, Cole is one of four in her graduating class from the club to join a team in the Pac-12, which should make her collegiate match-ups all the more intriguing.
Oregon is coming off of a 2-9 season in 2017 and haven’t had much luck as a program, but will be looking to build things up starting in 2018.
