The Pac-12’s Offensive Player of the Week honor is staying in Corvallis for the second straight week as Oregon State’s Mary-Kate Marshall has won the award once again. Joining Marshall was Stanford’s Morgan Hentz (Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week) and Oregon State’s Kylee McLaughlin (Pac-12 Freshman of the Week).
Marshall, a senior from Coppell, Texas, averaged 4.71 kills and 2.43 digs per set while hitting .318 for the week in a pair of wins, giving them four consecutive victories overall. In a sweep of Arizona, Marshall posted 11 kills while her highlight match came against Arizona State when she totaled 22 kills. Not only she did have high volume, but with just six errors she hit very efficiently as well.
On the defensive side of things Stanford’s sophomore libero Morgan Hentz notched 36 digs in two matches, good for 4.50 digs per set. They came in big matches to, as the Cardinal downed Washington and Washington State with Stanford holding those two to a combined .191 hitting percentage. As good as Hentz has been in her young career, this is surprisingly her first career Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week honor.
The final award is a teammate of Marshall at Oregon State in freshman Kylee McLaughlin. It’s actually the second straight week Oregon State won this award as well after Maddie Goings claimed it last week. Her performance included 12.71 assists and 2.29 digs per set as she contributed on both ends of the court. She was the one setting a good portion of Marshall’s 22 kills vs. Arizona State as McLaughlin notched a season and career-high 57 assists in that match.
