Paris has hosted the Olympic Games twice, in 1900 and 1924 – they are in tight contention with Los Angeles for the bid.
The French stressed their cities compact nature, stating that 85 percent of athletes would be housed withing 30 minutes of their venues. 95 percent of the the Paris venues will be existing or temporary facilities.
Should Paris receive the bid for the 2024 Olympic Games, the volleyball competition will be held at the Le Bourget – Pavillion II. The facility can seat up to 12,000 fans. The location is in close proximity to the Media Village and the Main Media Center.
The location is about 8 km east of the Olympic and Paralympic Village, it will be easily accessed by car via highways A1, A3, and A86. In addition to car access, Le Bourget – Pavilion II is accessible through bus services and multiple rail connections, including Metro Lines 16 and 17, Suburban railway RER B. In more eco-friendly options, it is also served by the Paris public bicycle-sharing system and electric car sharing service, with multiple stations near the facility.
The International Olympic Committee will vote on the host city on September 13, 2017 in Lima, Peru.
