Pools and Schedules Outlined For Mens Club World Champs

Lausanne, Switzerland– Sada Cruzeiro will begin their defence of the FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship  an opening-day clash against newcomers Taichung Bank of Chinese Taipei while 2016 silver medallists Zenit Kazan of Russia will meet Egyptian outfit Tala’ea El Gaish SC in the opening match of the tournament.

The pools and schedule have now been finalised with just over 40 days to go until the first serve of the 12th edition of the tournament in in Betim, Brazil.

The other match taking place on the opening day of the tournament will see hosts Minas Tenis Clube clash with two-time bronze medallists UPCN San Juan of Argentina.

Minas Tenis Clube will also be in action on day two, taking on none other than four-time champions Diatec Trentino, who return to the tournament for the first time since 2014. Bolivar also return to the world’s premier annual men’s club tournament for the first time since earning a fourth-place finish in 2010 on the second day of action when they meet with UPCN San Juan in an all-Argentinean clash.

The opening four days of action will see all teams play three matches each in a round robin format before the top two teams from each pool meet in the semifinals.

The tournament will conclude on October 23 with the bronze and gold-medal matches.

The 2016 edition of the Men’s Club World Championship will take place at the Ginásio Poliesportivo Divino Braga in Betim, the venue which also hosted the Men’s Club World Championship in 2013 and 2015. The gym is one of the largest venues in the state’s metropolitan area and can welcome up to 7,000 spectators.
