OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Eduardo Zardo – Sacred Heart – 6-3 – Setter – Senior – Brasilia, Brazil
Senior Eduardo Zardo has been selected as the EIVA Offensive Player of the Week for Sacred Heart after averaging 9.9 assists/set in a 1-1 week which included a sweep over #12 Penn State at home. Zardo’s 34 assists would help the Pioneers to a 3-0 victory as Sacred Heart swept Penn State in the regular season series for the first time since 1984. Eduardo would then record 35 assists in a 3-1 defeat to Saint Francis (Pa.) on Saturday as the Pioneers are currently tied with four other teams for the final EIVA Championship Tournament spot. Sacred Heart is looking to qualify for the EIVA Championship Tournament for the first time since 2010. Zardo is currently 6th in the EIVA in assists/set (8.86) and 7th in assists (452). This is Eduardo’s first EIVA Offensive Player of the Week selection in 2017.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
George Huhmann – Princeton – 6-11 – MB – Freshman – St. Louis, Mo.
Freshman George Huhmann has been selected as the EIVA Defensive Player of the Week after recording eight total blocks in a 3-1 victory for Princeton over George Mason on the road Saturday night. Huhmann helped the Tigers sweep the season series against the defending EIVA Champions as he also added 10 kills while hitting .412 on the offensive end against the Patriots. George is currently 1st in the EIVA in solo blocks (20), 2nd in total blocks (93), 3rd in block assists (73) and blocks/set (1.07), while also being ranked 2nd on the offensive end in hitting percentage (.387). This is Huhmann’s second EIVA Defensive Player of the Week selection in 2017. 2017
