Danielle Cuttino and Ashley Evans are both set for the annual USA Volleyball Tryouts beginning March 1 and running through March 3 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. A total of 229 athletes are attending this year’s tryout fighting for spots on the U.S. Women’s National Team and U.S. Collegiate National Team Programs.
Both, Cuttino and Evans, have exhausted their eligibility as Boilermakers and are seeking careers in professional volleyball whether it’s with Team USA or with a club abroad. The duo is one of the best setter-hitter combos Purdue has ever produced. If they both sign to play professionally, they will join alumna Annie Drews and Val Nichol as active Purdue graduates competing at the professional level.
U.S. Women’s National Team Head Coach Karch Kiraly will direct the entire tryout process. The tryout will involve four sessions with three waves per session. Friday’s first session goes from 4-10 p.m. ET, while Saturday’ssessions are at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. The final session on Sunday begins at 9:30 a.m. with tournament style play, along with 16-18 athletes selected by the U.S. Women’s National Team staff to participate in a “USA” training session. Fans wishing to attend the tryout in Sports Center II should access the U.S. Olympic Training Center through the entrance on Union Boulevard.
All sessions minus the USA training session on Sunday morning will be streamed live and available for free. USA Volleyball will use #USAVtryout as the event hashtag for photos, notes, quotes and stories posted to its social media platforms Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter and Instagram under the handle @usavolleyball.
