After trailing 1-2 in their semifinal series with Camponesa Minas Belo Horizonte, defending champions Rexona Sesc Rio de Janeiro were able come back to take the series 3-2. Rexona will move onto the Brazilian women’s Superleague finals with the win.

In the deciding match of the series, Rexona took down Camponesa 3-1, (25-15, 26-24, 21-25, 25-20) to claim the Brazilian women’s Superleague title in front of 4,500 fans.

Leading Rexona was Juciely Barreto with 20 points on the match, with seven blocks, 13 kills on a 62 percent attacking average. With the impressive play, Barreto was voted as the matches MVP. Also scoring big was Drussyla Costa with 18 points. For Camponesa, Destinee Hooker scored a match-best 24 points, but it was not enough as Camponesa gave away 30 points in unforced errors in the match.

Up next for Rexona is the single-match final against Volei Nestle Osasco on April 23 – just weeks before the two squads travel to Japan for the 2017 FIVB Club World Championship in Kobe on May 9-14.

Osasco has not won a Superleague title since 2012 when they defeated Rexona – for their fifth overall title. Rexona will be seeking their fifth straight title and 12th overall title. Since their move to Rio, Rexona has been in every finals match since 2005.
