OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Michael Comens – Sacred Heart – 6-3 – OH – Senior – Lindenhurst, N.Y. Senior Michael Comens has been selected as the EIVA Offensive Player of the Week after averaging 3.8 kills/set on a .395 hitting percentage in a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Harvard in EIVA play last week. Comens finished the match with a season and match-high 19 kills while committing only four errors. Six of the 19 kills would come in the third set to give the Pioneers a 25-19 set win as Sacred Heart came back from being down 0-2 to capture the victory. Defensively, Michael chipped in with five dis and four total blocks. Comens is currently 6th in the EIVA with a .282 hitting percentage this season. This is Michael’s first EIVA Offensive Player of the Week selection in 2017.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Junior Oboh – Princeton – 6-7 – MB – Junior – Old Bridge, N.J.
Junior Junior Oboh has been selected as the EIVA Defensive Player of the Week after recording seven total blocks in a 2-0 week for Princeton in EIVA action. The Tigers would take both of their matches against Charleston (W. Va.) as Oboh had four total blocks and a dig in a 3-0 sweep against the Golden Eagles on Friday, then finished with three digs and total blocks the following afternoon in a 3-2 win. Offensively, Junior added 17 kills on a .577 hitting percentage while recording three service aces and two assists. Oboh is currently 10th in solo blocks (7) and 11th in total blocks (41) this season in the EIVA. This is Junior’s first EIVA Defensive Player of the Week selection in 2017. 2017
