Sacred Hearts Michael Comens Named AVCA Player Of The Week

This week’s AVCA Player of the Week is Sacred Heart’s Michael Comens who helped lead the team to a comeback win over Harvard.

Sacred Heart dropped the first two sets to Harvard but behind Comens season-best 19 kills on a .395 hitting percentage the Pioneers were able to make a comeback to defeat Harvard in five. In addition to his 19 kills and an average of 3.8 kills per set, Comens picked up five digs and four blocks.

On top of the prestigious AVCA honor, Comens was named as the EIVA Offensive Player of the Week. Sacred Heart sits in third place in the conference with the win.

This is the second AVCA Player of the Week honor that has been presented to a Sacred Heart player in the volleyball program’s history, with Bradley Borsay taking the award on February 14, 2011.
