19th-ranked Canada earned its first victory of the 2018 FIVB World Championship Wednesday, besting 25th-ranked Cuba in 4 sets to keep its second round hopes alive. 7th-ranked Italy swept 12th-ranked Turkey, while top-ranked China gave its young players valuable experience in a 4-set win against 17th-ranked Bulgaria.
Current World Champions Brazil was knocked out unexpectedly by Cuba. Slovenia, Bulgaria, Turkey, and the Dominican Republic will battle it out for a finals spot starting tomorrow.
