The quarterfinals for the Women’s NIVC are set after eight contests on Friday, including five set wins by Portland and UNLV. Action resumes Wednesday, Dec. 5.
Florida State junior outside hitter Payton Caffrey has been named the 2018 ACC Volleyball Player of the Year and headlines the All-ACC Team.
The top of the standings remains in tact with Pittsburgh on top at 11-1 and Louisville and Florida State right behind at 10-2, but Sunday saw surprise results with both the Panthers and Cardinals falling.
8th-ranked Pittsburgh, Miami, Notre Dame and Duke continued their upticks with ACC victories Saturday night. Clemson, Georgia Tech and RV Louisville also picked up wins to get back on track.
Following this week of action, 8th-ranked Pittsburgh and RV Louisville are share the ACC lead with 8-0 records at the halfway point. The Panthers are perfect on the season at 20-0, while the Cardinals are 15-4.

Korte injured her knee in the team’s preseason game and underwent surgery on Thursday.
Duke’s Andie Shelton has been named ACC Volleyball Player of the Week, and Solei Thomas of Clemson and Mariana Brambilla of Georgia Tech earned Co-Freshmen of the Week nods.
Korte, a junior outside hitter, was the team’s leading scorer in 2017, and was the biggest returning piece for a team that doesn’t return much for 2018.
Clemson volleyball head coach Michaela Franklin announced the program’s incoming class for the fall of 2018. The additions include soon-to-be freshmen Crystal Childs (right side hitter/Alpharetta, Ga.), Katelyn DeGuzman (defensive specialist/libero/Easley, S.C.), Gabrielle Easton (setter/Anderson, S.C.) and Torie Frederick (defensive specialist/libero/Manvel, Texas).
