Pitt’s Lund, Clemson’s Thomas Tabbed as ACC Players of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Pitt’s Kayla Lund has received ACC Volleyball Player of the Week honors, and Solei Thomas of Clemson has been named the Freshman of the Week

Lund led the Panthers to a 3-0 weekend at the Panther Invitational, highlighted by a sweep of No. 12 Washington. The sophomore outside hitter from Pasadena, California, hit an incredible .727 to go along with 16 kills and six digs against the Huskies. Lund totaled 48 kills, 24 digs and hit at a .411 clip on the weekend, averaging 4.00 kills per set.

Thomas was named tournament MVP for the second week in a row after the Tigers went undefeated at the Big Orange Bash en route to her second consecutive ACC Freshman nod. The rookie outside/right side hitter from Detroit, Michigan, posted a stellar .312 hitting percentage across Clemson’s three matches, including a .407 mark against North Dakota. Thomas racked up 39 kills, seven total blocks and averaged 3.90 kills per set.
