Three Teams Go Undefeated In Their Divisions To Win Junior Nationals

2017 USA GIRLS’ 18S JUNIOR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

The 2017 USA Girls’ 18s Junior National Championships have concluded, crowning five teams as champions this weekend. Three teams were able to stay unbeaten in the tournament to take the title in their division.

Open Division

After fighting through three days of play and 35 other teams competing, KC Power 18-1 was able to take first place in the Open Division.

Their final day of play started with A4 Volley 18-Purple in the first round of the gold bracket. They were able to run through them easily in a 2-0, (27-25, 25-13) match. In the semifinal round, KC Power took on Sky High-Adidas 18 Black – the only team in the division to not drop a match in the tournament to that point. It took three sets but KC Power came out victorious 2-1, (25-22, 18-25, 15-11) to head to the finals.

In the finals, KC Power took on TAV 18 Black who earlier took out Top Select 18 Elite Blake, who had been dominating the tournament up to that point in a two set match. The final was every bit a challenge for both teams as the match went to three sets and extra points. KC Power took the Open Division title with a 2-1, (25-23, 22-25, 16-14) win over TAV.

National Division

In a 48 team division, IPVA 18 Black was able to take the National Division title.

The first match of the final day for IPVA was to Absolute Black 18-1. IPVA dominated them in the first set 25-6, but turned around and dropped the second 22-25, forcing a third set. The third set was no problem for IPVA as they took down Absolute 15-3 to move onto the semifinals.

The semifinals brought the challenge of TX Tornados 18 Mizuno, who like IPVA was also undefeated in the tournament. IPVA rolled to a 2-0, (25-17, 25-17) victory over TX Tornados to advance to the finals.

In the finals, IPVA faced the other undefeated team in the tournament -Asics Louisiana 18. IPVA fought for their 2-0, (30-28, 25-22) victory that went an extra five points in the first to take the National Division title.

USA Division

AJV 18 Mizuno had an easy gold bracket route to the USA Division title – remaining unbeaten throughout the tournament.

In AJV’s first match of the day they took down SA Force 182 National 2-0, (25-17, 25-18). The semifinal match to SG Elite 18 Roshambo was also a breeze, as AJV rolled to a 2-0, (25-19, 25-18) victory to put them in the finals.

In the finals, AJV ended play with a 2-0, (25-17, 25-19) victory over AP 18 Asics.

American Division

Arsenal 18 Gold remained unbeaten in the tournament to take the American Division national title.

In Arsenal’s first match of the day they took on Goldenwest 18 Asics, who was also undefeated at the time, 2-1, (25-20, 21-25, 15-9) to advance to the semifinals. The semifinal round brought another undefeated team to Arsenal’s plate in CVC 18 Black. Arsenal took them down in straight sets 2-0, (25-17, 25-21) to move onto the finals.

Xceleration Blue 18-1 met Arsenal in the finals, where Arsenal fought to a 2-0, (25-23, 25-22) victory for the national title.

Patriot Division

LAVA West 18 Adidas was able to take the Patriot Division national title.

With a first round bye match in the gold bracket, LAVA’s road to the championship was made easier. After the first match LAVA was set to play Club One AZ 18 Gold, where they rolled to a 2-0, (25-18, 25-13) victory. In the semifinals, LAVA faced Miz LB 18 Rockstar, taking them down in a 2-0, (25-16, 25-22) win to advance to the finals.

In the finals, LAVA took on Coast 18-2 and were able to take a straight set 2-0, (25-23, 25-20) victory to take the national title.
