Top Volley Latina brings in Carlo De Angelis, a young libero that will reinforce the clubs recent signing of the United States National Team member Erik Shoji.

Top Volley Latina is in the Italian Serie A1 league where they finished 11th last season. This will not be the first time that De Angelis will play in the Serie A1 league in Italy. The 21-year-old debuted with Diatec Trentino in the 2015-16 season, with that being his last with the team. In the 2016-17 season, De Angelis played with Caloni Agnelli Bergamo in the Serie A2.

With Caloni Agnelli Bergamo, De Angelis helped the team to a fourth place finish in the Serie A2 UnipolSai.

De Angelis will have a tough test this season to take the libero role away from Shoji. Recently, he helped Team USA finish fourth at the FIVB World League. In addition, Shoji helped the American’s to a third place finish at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

Though it will be a tough battle to take over the leading libero role, it is not impossible as De Angelis has experience in the Serie A1 league in Italy while this is just the first year for Shoji.
