Tourcoing Volley-Ball has found themselves on the winning side of the French Men’s Cup Final (Coupe de France) as they defeated Chaumont Volley 52 Haute-Marne in a five-set 3-2, (19-25, 24-26, 25-22, 25-20, 15-12) battle.

The debutants in the French Ligue A this season made a tough comeback over the veteran squad who sits in 2nd place in the league this year with a 15-5 record. The turnaround of events came when Chaumont star, Stephen Boyer exited the match with an injury in the second set. Chaumont went on to win that set but could not hold on to win the remainder of the match.

On the women’s side of the competition, Cannes was able to take down Beziers – a team that they had fallen to twice this season already. The team was able to down Beziers in four sets 3-1, (16-25, 25-20, 25-20, 27-25) in a comeback win. For Cannes, Nadia Centoni was the leading scorer with 24 points.

The win for Cannes was their 20th French Cup in program history and they are looking to win the French League as they are currently the front-runners in the league.

“This victory is perhaps more beautiful than the others, because it is the twentieth of Cannes, my eighth, and it comes the year I come back, after three years in Turkey. I am super happy because we had not started well, but we managed to gradually regain our level of play and do what we can do,” said Centoni.
