In their farthest trip of the 2017 season, the women of Tulane’s No. 18 ranked beach volleyball team head to Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina for the College of Charleston Beach Classic. The four-match weekend will take place over Friday, March 24 and Saturday, March 25 as the Green Wave look to add two more conference wins to their record.
ABOUT THE COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON BEACH CLASSIC
Two first-year CCSA member schools await Tulane in South Carolina, with the Green Wave taking on host College of Charleston on Fridayat 1:30 and UNC-Wilmington on Saturday at 9:30. Tulane is 4-1 and 1-0 against the Cougars and Seahawks, respectively, as the teams meet as conference opponents for the first time.
In their home tournament, the College of Charleston Cougars enter just their second weekend of competition in the 2017 season. At the North Florida Tournament March 4-5, the Cougars went 1-3 with a win over Spring Hill.
UNCW is 6-2 on the year, with losses coming from No. 8 Georgia State and FIU in the first weekend of the season.
The Green Wave also play two non-conference opponents, opening the weekend on Friday morning to take on Mercer for the fifth meeting in series history. Tulane leads with a record of 3-1 all-time, and the Green Wave are 2-0 at neutral sites.
Tulane will meet its fourth opponent of the weekend with an 8:00 a.m. dual against Lincoln Memorial to open up the final day of competition in South Carolina. Saturday will be the first meeting between the two teams.
UP NEXT
Tulane will head south to Miami next weekend for the FIU Surf & Turf Invitational, where the Wave will play a rematch with the hosting No. 16 Panthers as well as meeting CCSA foe No. 4 Florida State for the first time this season.
