Three summer camps open to players in grades four through twelve highlight Tulane volleyball’s summer schedule, head coach Jim Barnes recently announced. Throughout the month of July, the Green Wave will offer an All Skills Camp, Elite Camp and Team Camp to gear younger players up for their fall seasons.
Each camp will take place inside the Hertz Center and will provide personalized instruction both on and off the court with a 10:1 player to coach ratio. Early Bird Discounts are a reduction of $75 per player if registered before March 31. Enrollment is limited to ensure quality instruction, so participants are encouraged to register early.
Tulane’s All Skills Camp kicks off the summer slate. Running from July 8-10, the camp is open to players in grades four through nine of any skill level. The camp will cover all basic skills and fundamentals, with opportunities for team play as well. Groups will be divided by skill level.
The 2017 Elite Camp will take place July 11-13 and will be open to rising high school freshmen to seniors. This camp caters to the more experienced player looking for an intense, high-level training experience, as participants will receive both positional and team training. The Elite Camp will end in a camp-wide tournament.
Rounding out the summer camp schedule is the Team Camp on July 20-22. High school teams will receive instruction in all phases of the game, from siding out, defensive transition and serve and defend to free ball options. Participants in the Team Camp will also attend additional sessions regarding recruiting, weight training, nutrition and more.
All camps are offered with resident or commuter options. Resident campers will stay in the university dormitories and will be housed two to a room. The dorms are conveniently located next to the dining hall and athletic facilities. All meals are provided to overnight campers, while day campers will be provided lunch and dinner.
