Every day at VolleyMob we will preview several of the most notable and interesting matches in NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball. We will offer an inside look at some of those top matchups each day as we carry along through the 2017 season.

After a fun and crazy opening weekend, we begin week two with just three matches on the ledger. One features a team receiving votes in the latest VolleyMob top 25 though, as a solid mid-major match-up accompanies it.

THE BIG MATCH:

RV(#26) Washington State at Howard – 7 pm ET

Washington State took down a 2016 NCAA Tournament team in American yesterday, and now goes for an encore on the road against another team in the field of 64 last season in the Howard Bison. The Cougars are still looking to creep up into the top 25 as they have an elite blocking team.

It’s been just a 1-2 start for Howard, but they went 26-6 last season as they won every MEAC match (both regular and postseason) en route to a spot in the NCAA Tournament. They would likely have to win their conference again, but if they’d want any chance at an at-large (in case of being upset), they would need to defeat the Cougars.

OTHER NOTABLE MATCHES:

Northern Illinois at UW-Milwaukee – 7 pm ET (ESPN3)

The Huskies had a rough start going 0-3 in the opening weekend, but considering they had to play two tough mid-majors in Cal Poly and Dayton, it’s not all bad as they went 25-6 last season en route to an NCAA Tournament appearance. UW-Milwaukee on the other hand went 15-13 last season, and will look to score a big confidence booster at home.

BEST OF THE REST:

Alcorn State at Loyola University (La.) – 7 pm ET
