EVANSVILLE, Indiana – The Panthers defeated the Aces Saturday night in Missouri Valley Conference play in the Meeks Family Fieldhouse. UNI is now 6-0 in conference play this season.
UNI hit .343 on the match, with a .429 clip in the first. They held Evansville to a .117 hitting percentage. The Panthers out-blocked the Aces 4-2.
UNI setter, Heather Hooke dished out 34 assists, along with six digs, six kills and one block assist. On the other side of the net, Allana McInnis notched 23 assists along with two kills, three digs, and one block assist.
Two UNI players posted double-figure kills with Piper Thomas totaling 11 kills on an impressive .476 clip. Karlie Taylor tabbed 11 kills as well, along with 10 digs for a double-double.
Evansville had one player with double-figure kills. Mildrelis Rodriguez put away 12 kills on a .085 clip and added eight digs and one block assist.
Both teams will continue with Missouri Valley Conference as UNI hosts Southern Illinois next Friday and Evansville hosts Bradley on Monday.

EVANSVILLE, Indiana – The University of Northern Iowa extended its season-long winning streak to six in a row with a 3-0 victory over the Evansville Purple Aces on Saturday. UNI won by set scores of 25-16, 25-13, 25-19.
UNI (16-4 overall, 6-0 MVC) defeated Evansville (6-12 overall, 0-6 MVC) for the 18th consecutive time. UNI improved to 48-1 all-time against Evansville.
UNI notched a .300 or better attack percentage for the third straight match. UNI hit .343 against Evansville after posting a .398 attack effort against Bradley and a .313 attack percentage vs. Illinois State.
The Panthers used a balanced offensive attack against the Purple Aces. Piper Thomas (11 kills), Karlie Taylor (11 kills), Jaydlin Seehase (9 kills) and Bri Weber (8 kills) all posted at least eight kills against the Purple Aces.
UNI’s lone senior Heather Hook posted an all-around effort that included 34 assists, six kills (.462), six digs, a service ace and a block.
UNI will return home to the McLeod Center for matches against Southern Illinois (Fri., 7 p.m.) and Missouri State (Sat., 7 p.m.)

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Facing a nationally-ranked UNI squad, the University of Evansville volleyball team put up a solid effort on Saturday at Meeks Family Fieldhouse, dropping a 3-0 decision.
Mildrelis Rodriguez led everyone with 12 kills and 47 attempts. She also had 8 digs for the Purple Aces (6-12, 0-6 MVC). Rachel Tam had six kills. Cassie Brooks notched 16 digs on the night while Allana McInnis checked in with 23 helpers.
Piper Thomas and Karlie Taylor led the Panthers (16-4, 6-0 MVC) offense with 11 kills apiece while Heather Hook posted six kills and a game-high 34 assists.
UE held its ground in the first set. After the Panthers scooted out to a 10-5 lead, the Aces fought back to make it an 11-8 game. From there, UNI extended the advantage for a 25-16 win.
UNI started game two on a 5-2 stretch before Mildrelis Rodriguez ended the rally with a kill to bring the Aces back within two. The Panthers overcame that and pulled away as the game continued, winning by a 25-13 final.
In the third set, UNI looked like it would pull away for an easy win, but Evansville had other ideas. The Panthers jumped out to a 10-3 lead before Rodriguez helped UE make its way back. A 5-0 run set the Aces forward before they tied it up at 11-11.
After the Panthers scored four in a row to jump back up by a 15-11 score, UE once again reeled off four straight to knot the score. Despite the momentum gained by the Aces, UNI was able to hang on as they pulled back ahead for a 25-19 win to clinch the match in three sets.
On Monday, the Aces will wrap up the home stand with another 7 p.m. tilt against Bradley at Meeks Family Fieldhouse.
