Every day at VolleyMob we will preview several of the most notable and interesting matches in NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball. We will offer an inside look at some of those top matchups each day as we carry along through the 2017 season.

After another solid day of volleyball on Labor Day, week three continues on Tuesday night with several mid-majors continuing their season. For some, they will take place in in-state matchups while others will be looking to score big non-conference victories.

THE BIG MATCH:

Western Kentucky (5-2) at Belmont (5-2) – 7 pm ET (OVC Digital Network)

Two five win mid-majors meet with hopes of a strong non-conference win as week three continues into the 2017 season.

Western Kentucky had a two-loss week that pushed them out of the top 25 to unranked territory, but they’ll have plenty of options to regain their status as the season goes on. One of those chances will be tonight as the Hilltoppers face another strong mid-major in Belmont for a true road match.

The Belmont Bruins could really raise some eyebrows in the mid-major community with a win over Western Kentucky as they look to continue building off a 16-12 season in 2016. They had a chance earlier for a big win but fell in straight sets to Wichita State.

OTHER NOTABLE MATCHES:

Dayton (3-3) at Miami (OH) (4-3) – 7 pm ET (ESPN3)

Anytime two teams in Ohio square off it seems as if it is a rivalry. Dayton and Miami (OH) may not be true rivals, but it should feel like it in this one as two solid mid-major programs meet from the same state after the two won a combined 54 matches in 2016.

Utah Valley (3-4) at Utah State (4-2) – 9 pm ET (Watch Live)

Utah Valley dropped its opening match of a hosted tournament to Kansas last week, but bounced back with solid wins over Montana and Long Beach State. They’ve now won three of four and will put to test their streak against Utah State who has gone 2-1 each week of play and will look to win an in-state match.

BEST OF THE REST:

VCU (5-2) at High Point (4-2) – 6 pm ET (Big South Network)

Northern Illinois (0-7) at RV(#26) Northern Iowa (4-2) – 7 pm ET (ESPN3)

Oral Roberts (1-5) at Arkansas (5-1) – 8 pm ET (SEC Network Plus)
