In the latest polls, a bit of a shift occurred with Hawaii falling a bit and the MPSF garnering some more presence near the top. That still was not enough to unseat the Big West from their claim as the highest average rankings for teams in a league, but it was enough to tighten the gap while the MPSF and MIVA each claimed a higher total of teams.
VM TOP 20 | VM AVG. RK | AVCA (15) | AVCA AVG. RK | ||
MPSF | 6 | 9.7 | 5 | 7.4 | |
MIVA | 6 | 11.0 | 5 | 10.2 | |
Big West | 5 | 6.6 | 5 | 6.4 | |
EIVA | 3 | 17.7 | 0 | — |
The MIVA continues to quietly be making a force in the rankings as well, with three in the top nine and five of its six ranked teams in the first 14. The Big West has five of the top 11, so although their sixth team isn’t ranked shows plenty of prominence, while the MPSF adds to the west coast power with three of the top six spot. They are hurt in average ranking by a few teams in the ‘teens, but that also allows them more ranked schools than the Big West. The EIVA meanwhile doesn’t have anyone who clears the top 15, but still has three in the VolleyMob Top 20.
In the AVCA Coaches Poll, the EIVA was once again left out for the second straight week while all three top conferences had equal distribution in quantity. In terms of quality though, the Big West still took the cake with the MPSF encroaching on their territory in that poll as well.
