WKU Volleyball has now won 28-consecutive sets and 19-straight matches to date. Additionally, WKU leads the nation with 18 matches swept on the 2017 season.
Entering the weekend, the Lady Toppers sit atop the league standings with a 9-0 record against conference foes. A win Friday night would clinch the Red and White a spot in the C-USA Volleyball Championships next month. Marshall owns a 9-14 record overall and a 4-4 mark in C-USA while UAB is 11-14 overall and 4-5 in league action.
In non-conference meetings, WKU and Marshall both crossed paths with Austin Peay. The Thundering Herd dropped a 3-1 decision in Clarksville, Tenn., while the Lady Toppers swept APSU from Diddle Arena. UAB also dropped a four-set match against Austin Peay in Birmingham, Ala., earlier this season. WKU swept the Blazers in this year’s first meeting two weeks ago.
Marshall returns half of last year’s 16 letterwinners. Head coach Mitch Jacobs returns four of last season’s six starters from the squad that posted a 22-8 record. WKU leads the all-time series against Marshall 10-2, claiming the last six decisions.
The Blazers return 12-of-17 letterwinners from last year’s 11-19 squad in addition to all six starters. UAB leads the all-time series against the Lady Toppers 22-8 with WKU claiming the seven most recent decisions dating back to 1996.
On Sunday, fans can bring in their tickets from the WKU vs. Florida Atlantic football game (Oct. 28) and receive free admission to the volleyball match. Additionally, Sunday will also be faith and family day where spectators can bring in a church bulletin or announcements and receive free admission as well.
