Despite sweeping #18 Baylor, #6 Texas was without one of their senior pins in Yaasmeen Bedart-Ghani. According to The Daily Texan, Bedart-Ghani missed the match due to an ankle injury.
Bedart-Ghani has appeared in six of the team’s 10 matches to this point in the season. Her last appearance was one match prior when she logged her season high of 10 kills at Kansas State. She also hit .286 and added 3 digs and 2 blocks as she helped the Longhorns squeeze by the then 23rd-ranked Wildcats in five sets.
In total for the season, Bedart-Ghani has compiled 43 kills (2.15 per set) on a .340 hitting percentage, 13 blocks (0.65 per set), 6 digs and 3 aces. The 6’4″ native of Los Angeles, California was a 2018 Preseason All-Big 12 selection headed into her senior season.
The good news for Texas though is that they have a myriad of options on the pin that stepped up in the win over Baylor. The combination of Micaya White, Logan Eggleston and Katarina Luketic combined for 20 of the team’s 32 kills on a .349 hitting percentage, 10 digs and 6 blocks.
Specifically filling in for Bedart-Ghani was Luketic, who notched 4 kills, 4 blocks and an assist for a total of 6 points.
