Every day at VolleyMob we will preview several of the most notable and interesting matches in NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball. We will offer an inside look at some of those top matchups each day as we carry along through the 2017 season.

Today doesn’t feature quite the volume of matches or high-level meetings of Friday or Saturday, but it should be a nice cherry on top to what’s been a wonderful weekend of action. Even with plenty of teams sitting pat on the day, a few matchups stand out to be very intriguing.

THE BIG MATCH:

#14 Kentucky at RV(#33) Marquette – 2 pm ET (Marquette Tube/Game Tracker)

Two teams who have shown the ability to beat ranked or receiving votes competition match up to round out week three of the 2017 season.

Marquette started off the season with a ranked victory over Hawaii but have since taken three losses to teams either ranked or receiving votes. They get another opportunity as they host a talented and experienced Kentucky team.

The Wildcats are looking to avoid a second loss in the same week as they started with a tough road test in Lawrence on Labor Day Monday. They not only have a chance to avoid sliding much in the upcoming VolleyMob Top 25 with a win, but would record a strong resume builder in doing so as well.

OTHER NOTABLE MATCHES:

#24 Ohio State at Notre Dame – 1 pm ET (ACC Network/Game Tracker)

Ohio State came out on top in a sweep in the first meeting, as the two scheduled a home-and-home after the Coastal Carolina Classic was cancelled due to Hurricane Irma. This one should be closer in South Bend as the Fighting Irish look to come back strong from their first loss of the season.

LSU at North Carolina – 1 pm ET (ACC Network/Live Stats)

LSU is quietly off to an undefeated start to 2017 and may have their toughest test in playing at North Carolina. That said, the Tar Heels have struggled to open up 2017 as they’ve dropped from preseason top 10 to out of the poll entirely after they lost their first four matches.

BEST OF THE REST:

Ball State at #17 Michigan – Noon ET (Live Stats)

Eastern Michigan at Towson – Noon ET (Watch/Live Stats)

Idaho State at #20 Colorado State – 2 pm ET (MW Network/Live Stats)
