HOW IT HAPPENED
Washington State picked up its seventh win in Pac-12 play Wednesday night. The Cougars hit the road and picked up a sweep of Utah.
In the first, it was Utah that jumped out to an early lead. The Utes scored four of the first five points to build a 4-1 lead.
With the scored tied 8-8, the Cougars used a 7-1 spurt to grab a 15-10 lead. The Utes then rallied to take a late 23-22 lead before Washington State scored the final three points for a 25-23 win.

The second set went back and forth until the Cougars seized the momentum late. Washington State led 18-17, but then used a 7-1 spurt, including the final five points to close out the set, 25-18.

Washington State came out of the gate strong in the third. The Cougars led 18-7 before Utah worked its way back into the set. The Utes trimmed the lead to three at 21-18 before the Cougars closed out the set and the match, 25-21.

MATCH NOTABLES
- Outside hitter McKenna Woodford let the way for the Cougars, tallying 17 kills.
- Washington State outside hitter Penny Tusa had a double-double. Tusa registered 15 kills, hit .483, and notched 14 digs.
- Outside hitter Kenzie Koerber was the best player on the court for the Utes. Koerber led the way with 12 kills, while hitting .476.
- Utah outside hitter Dani Drews chipped in 11 kills.
- Utah Libero Brianna Doehrmann eclipsed 1,000 digs for her career. She entered the match 7 shy, and finished with 18, bringing her total to 1,011.
- Washington State hit .250 as a team while holding Utah to .157.
- The Cougars won their third straight match overall and their seventh match away from home this season.
