18-Year-Old Belgian National Teamer Signs with Busto Arsizio

Belgian National Team member and 18-year-old Britt Herbots has signed with Unet E-Work Busto Arsizio for the 2018-2019 season. Busto Arsizio plays in the top Italian League.

A 6’0″ (182 cm) wing-spiker/outside hitter, Herbots owns a 10’2″ (310 cm) spike and 9’6″ (290 cm) block touch. She will turn 19 in September.

Herbots last played for ASPTT Mulhouse in the French league for one season. Prior to that she was with a pair of youth teams from 2011-2012, then Topsportschool VVB until 2014 when she would make a change to Vlag van Belgie Asterix Kieldrecht.

As part of her native country of Belgium’s National Team, Herbots competed in the 2017 FIVB World Grand Prix. She is also with the team in the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Nations League where Belgium is currently 2-2. Regardless of being one of the younger players in the entire event, Herbots is second on the Belgian side in points with 70 and first in spikes with 64. She is also doing so at a 41.29% success rate through four matches and is second on the nation in aces and digs per set.

Playing in the Italian Serie A1, Unet E-Work Busto Arsizio – which was previously Unet Yamamay Busto Arsizio until 2017 – the club went 12-10 (39 points) in the regular season, good for a fourth place finish. They then made the playoff’s semifinals before falling to Novara.

The young phenom from Belgium will look to push Busto Arsizio closer to a trophy, which they last won in the 2011-2012 season when they claimed the Serie A1, Italian Super Cup, Italian Cup and CEV Cup.
