Brazil’s Agatha/Eduarda came back from an 0-1 deficit to beat Americans Walsh/Ross in the quarterfinals of the Fort Lauderdale Major.

Agatha/Eduarda (BRA) def. Walsh/Ross (USA)

  • Score: 2-1 (16-21, 21-15, 20-18)

In a marathon third set, Agatha/Eduarda outlasted Walsh/Ross 20-18 to move on to the semifinal. That came after a big 21-16 win for the Americans in the opening set.

Labroureur/Sude (GER) def. Alves/Maestrini (BRA)

  • Score: 2-0 (21-14, 21-15)

Germany’s Labroureur/Sude rolled to a quick two-set sweep of Brazil’s Alves/Maestrini, one of four Brazilian teams in the quarterfinals. Germany’s crew advances to the semifinal against another Brazilian opponent, Agatha/Eduarda.

Sweat/Ross (USA) def. Kolocova Kvapilova (CZE) 

  • Score: 2-0 (21-13, 21-14)

The other American duo easily dispatched the last Czech team in the hunt by smooth 21-13, 21-14 margins. The Americans move on to face Larissa/Talita of Brazil in the semis.

Larissa/Talita (BRA) def. Seixas/Alves (BRA)

  • Score: 2-0 (23-21, 21-13)

An inter-country matchup saw a very competitive first set that went into extra points. But once Larissa/Talita triumphed 23-21, sailing turned smoother as Seixas/Alves fell in a 13-21 final set to send their country-mates into the semis to face the USA.
