THE BIG MATCH:

#20 Cal Poly (19-2, 9-0) at UC Irvine (18-2, 6-1) – 10 pm ET

A match near the top of the Big West standings occurs as the conference leader, Cal Poly, faces the team in third in UC Irvine. Both of these teams also rank in the top 60 of the RPI.

This is a vital week for Cal Poly in trying to maintain their Big West lead, as they have this one coming in Irvine before playing host to Hawaii. The combination of those three teams have just two Big West losses with Cal Poly at zero. They’re led by UCLA transfer Torrey Van Winden, who has a team-best 4.75 kills per set while hitting .358.

UC Irvine’s only loss came at Hawaii in four sets as since then they have collected six straight victories. They are also 8-0 at home, so will have that record going for them in a positive light. While Cal Poly is led by Van Winden, the Anteaters have Harlee Kekauoha, who is second on the team in kills per set (3.39) and the leader in aces (31).

OTHER NOTABLE MATCHES:

Wyoming (12-10, 7-3) at #21 Colorado State (20-2, 10-0) – 9 pm ET

A top 100 RPI showdown occurs in the Mountain West Conference as Wyoming (second) and Colorado State (first) represent the top two teams in the league. The Cowgirls actually have a better road record (6-3) than a home record as both of the Rams losses came in Fort Collins. It’s an opportunity for Wyoming to stick around the top of the table while Colorado State can push to a four-match lead in the Mountain West.

BEST OF THE REST:

UMES (21-6, 7-0) at La Salle (11-13, 2-7) – 6 pm ET
