VolleyMob Player of the Week: Lindsey Ruddins, UC Santa Barbara

UC Santa Barbara outside hitter Lindsey Ruddins is this week’s VolleyMob Player of the Week after a solid all-around effort in wins over UC Davis, Long Beach State and Cal State Northridge.

Ruddins notched 6.64 kills per set, while hitting at a .300 clip, and pulling up 3.18 digs per set en route to Big West Player of the Week honors. The redshirt sophomore posted 25 kills and 15 digs, while hitting .339 against UC Davis. The Laguna Niguel, California, native added 27 kills, 16 digs and three blocks, while hitting .254 against LBSU. Ruddins then capped the week with 20-kill, four dig and two block effort, while hitting .325 against CSUN.

 

Honorable Mention:

Laura Milos, Oral Roberts – Sr., OH
averaged 6.14 kills and 1.86 aces per set; posted 28 kills, 14 digs vs. Fort Wayne on Friday; notched 15 kills, 10 aces, 9 digs vs. Western Illinois; Summit League Offensive Player of the Week

Alyssa Cavanaugh, Western Kentucky –  Sr., OH
averaged 6.17 kills per set, while hitting at a.545 clip; accumulated 39 kills committing just three attack errors in six sets; tallied 19 kills on 29 errorless swing, hitting .655, while adding two digs vs. UTEP; downed 20 kills, while hitting .459 with three digs, a block and an ace vs. UTSA; Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week 

Grace Morgan, Rice –  So., MB
netted 2.8 kills and 2.3 blocks per set in wins over UTSA and UTEP; put up a career-high 13 blocks, 13 kills and a .440 hitting effort against UTSA; posted another 10 blocks in Sunday’s 3-2 rout of UTEP, while adding 15 kills, two digs, and an assist; Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week

Veronica Jones-Perry, BYU – Jr., OH
averaged 5.75 kills per set and 1.88 digs per set; notched 12 kills and nine digs in a sweep of Pepperdine; collected a career-high 34 kills while hitting at a .441 clip against Loyola Marymount, setting a BYU rally-scoring era record for kills in a match (previous high of 32 achieved twice – last in 2009); also dded a team-high three service aces, six digs and four blocks. West Coast Conference Player of the Week

Maurissa Leonard, Toledo – Jr., L
8.86 digs per set; racked up 26 digs vs. Miami (Ohio) and 36 digs vs. Bowling Green State; made good on 14 of 15 serve reception chances

 

Other Notables

Lily Johnson, Missouri State – Sr., OH
averaged 4.44 kills and 5.33 digs per set, while hitting .252 with four aces and five blocks; accounted for 22 kills and 21 digs against Bradley, tying MSU’s single-season record with her third 20/20 match of the year and becoming the second Bear with four such matches in a career; lifted 27 digs and downed 18 kills, while adding three aces and three blocks against Illinois State; Missouri Valley Player of the Week

Abbie Lehman, Wichita State – Sr., MB
averaged 5.83 kills and 1.00 blocks per set with a .517 hitting percentage to help the Shockers stay undefeated in conference play with a 10-0 record;  put down 18 kills against Cincinnati; added 17 while hitting .625 against ECU; put up six blocks in the Shockers’ two matches. American Athletic Conference Player of the Week

Cassie Knutson, Eastern Kentucky – Jr., S/RS
notched 5.71 assists per set to go with 3.14 kills and 2.43 digs per set; recorded second career triple double with 16 kills, 25 assists, 10 digs vs. UT Martin, while hitting at a .344 clip; added 15 assists, seven digs, six kills vs. Southeast Missouri

Taylor Horsfall, Tulsa – So., L
averaged 8.43 digs per set; tallied 32 digs, two aces, four assists at Temple; 27 digs, five assists at UConn
