Purdue Reamer Club Xtra Special Volleyball Premier

Double doubles were the story of the day as No. 23 Purdue opened the 2018 season with a pair of sweeps.

Wofford at Purdue

The 23rd-ranked Boilermakers opened the season with a dominant, 3-0, rout of Wofford to kick off its Purdue Reamer Club Xtra Special Volleyball Premier in West Lafayette, Ind. Purdue held the Terriers to a dismal .038 hitting percentage.

Redshirt senior outside hitter Sherridan Atkinson registered a double-double to highlight the match with 17 kills and 10 digs for Purdue. Redshirt freshman setter Hayley Bush led the way with 32 assists, while senior libero Brooke Peters tallied a team-high 17 digs.

Senior middle blocker Colleen Reilly registered a team-high 10 kills, senior libero Taylor Gill posted a team-high 21 digs and junior setter Lorissa King and freshman setter Noa Miller each distributed a team-high 12 assists for the Terriers.

The Boilermakers’ starting lineup featured freshman Grace Cleveland, Atkinson, redshirt junior Shavona Cuttino, redshirt junior Blake Mohler, Bush, freshman Marissa Hornung and Peters.

 

Tulsa vs. Bowling Green

Tulsa opened its 2018 regular season with a sweep of Bowling Green Friday morning. The Golden Hurricane outhit the Falcons .296 to .128 to claim the victory.

Emily Thorson registered a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs for the Golden Wave. Also registering 11 kills was Elyse Savadove. Lindsey Ledyard (15) and Taylor Horsfall (18) led the way in assists and digs, respectively.

For Bowling Green, sophomore Katie Kidwell paced the offense with 11 kills. Freshman Hanna Laube dished out 15 assists, while senior Kallie Seimet tallied 24 digs.

 

Wofford vs. Tulsa

Tulsa won its second match of the day with a victory in four sets over Wofford.

Senior Rachel Moore tallied 16 kills, junior Mariah Pardo distributed 19 assists and junior Taylor Horsfall posted 27 digs to lead the Golden Wave to the win.

Junior Catie Cronister registered 16 kills, junior Lorissa King dished out 26 assists and senior Taylor Gill tallied 27 digs to lead the Terriers.

 

Bowling Green at No. 23 Purdue

The 23rd-ranked Boilermakers made quick work of Bowling Green, securing their second sweep of the day.

Redshirt freshman Hayley Bush notched a double-double for the Boilermakers, notching a team-high 29 assists and 10 digs. Sophomore Caitlyn Newman (12) and redshirt senior Sherridan Atkinson (11) each registered double-digit kill totals, while senior Brooke Peters tallied a team-high 11 digs.

The Falcons couldn’t get much going offensively, hitting just .057 on the night. Freshman Katelyn Meyer led the team with 11 kills, while senior Kallie Seimet notched a match-high 16 digs.
