#3 WISCONSIN DEF. NORTH TEXAS 3-0

Following its first loss of the season, #3 Wisconsin bounced back with a sweep of North Texas in which they outscored the foe from the Conference USA 75-53.

It was an all-around performance for the Badgers, who hit .330, held North Texas to .135, had more kills (41-33), assists (38-30), blocks (6-3) and aces (12-4). North Texas had more digs (30-27), but it was really about the efficiency of the Wisconsin offense combined with strong serving – those 12 aces to just 6 serve errors – that kept the Mean Green out of system more often.

Leading that efficiency was balance for Wisconsin; setter Sydney Hilley (35 assists) spread things out with the top four attackers all between 18 and 22 attempts. That group included Grace Loberg (11 kills, .455, 4 digs), Madison Duello (10 kills, .500, 2 aces), Dana Rettke (8 kills, .389, 6 blocks) and Molly Haggerty (8 kills, .250, 5 aces).

In the losing effort for North Texas, Rhett Robinson (14 kills, .079, 8 digs, 2 aces) and Valerie Valerian (8 kills, .069, 6 digs) had good totals but low efficiency. Jordyn Williams (6 kills, .556) and Karley York (29 assists, 8 digs) were also solid.

The win gets Wisconsin back to their winning ways after they fell on the road to Baylor, while North Texas is off to a slow start after a near-30 win season in 2017.

Next up, Wisconsin will receive another test on the road, but this time in their own state as part of the Marquette Invitational and at #22 Marquette. North Texas will head home for the North Texas challenge with Mississippi State on the ledger first.
