5th-ranked Nebraska put a stop to 4th-ranked Illinois’ perfect season with a win in 4 sets on Saturday night in Champaign, Ill. The Huskers, who have won 6-straight against the Fighting Illini, are now on a 12-match win streak.

A .271 attack percentage and 14 to 7 edge on the block gave the Huskers everything they needed to earn the Big Ten win. Nebraska also limited errors, while the Fighting Illini committed 36 for the loss.
The Huskers were on fire in the opening set, hitting .478 to secure a dominant 25-14 victory. Illinois responded with a strong performance of its own in the second set, using a .324 attack percentage to even the match with a 25-19 win.
Nebraska regained control with a 7-3 start in the third set. The Fighting Illini were able to work their way back into contention with 2 ties, but could not overtake the Huskers, who went on to claim a 25-17 win.
In the fourth set, the Huskers established a 10-4 advantage early and never let up en route to their 25-19 match-closing victory.

Mikaela Foecke notched 13 kills and 11 digs to lead Nebraska, while Nicklin Hames logged 42 digs. Lauren Stivrins also contributed 4 blocks and 3 service aces.
Jacqueline Quade paced Illinois with 22 kills, followed by Beth Prince, who added 12 kills. Jordyn Poulter collected a double-double with 42 assists and 13 digs.
