All-American Aleksandra Malek Joins Oakland Roster

Junior college transfer Aleksandra Malek brings a strong all-around game to the Oakland Grizzlies after spending two years at Colby Community College in Colby, Kansas.

The Pszow, Poland native was a NJCAA Second Team All-America honoree in 2016, while also garnering Jayhawk Conference West Player of the Year and NJCAA All-Region VI first team accolades.

The 6-0 outside hitter ranked second nationally in aces per set (0.71) and third nationally in kills (501) and kills per set (4.60). She served up 77 aces on the year and also chipped in 3.20 digs per set as the Trojans went 24-10.

In 2015, Malek was a second team all-conference honoree.

All told, Malek racked up 938 kills and 137 aces, ranking third in school history in each category. She also tallied 581 digs (seventh) and 113 blocks (eighth).

Oakland posted a 19-13 record in 2016, including a 10-6 effort good for fourth place in Horizon League play.
