Big Ten Conference Weekly Release (Oct. 25th)

• All 14 Big Ten volleyball teams continue conference play this week with all matches set to air on either BTN or BTN Plus.

• Nebraska was voted unanimously No. 1 in the latest AVCA Volleyball Coaches Poll. Seven additional Big Ten programs appear among the top 25: No. 3 Minnesota, No. 4 Wisconsin, No. 10 Penn State, No. 13 Michigan, No. 15 Michigan State, No. 19 Ohio State and No. 24 Illinois.

• Eleven Big Ten volleyball teams are rated among the top 60 of the NCAA RPI: No.1 Nebraska, No. 2 Wisconsin, No. 4 Minnesota, No. 6 Michigan, No. 14 Michigan State, No. 18 Purdue, No. 22 Penn State, No. 24 Ohio State, No. 48 Illinois, No. 57 Iowa and No. 58 Indiana.

• Based on average attendance, the Big Ten has seven of the nation’s top 10 teams. Nebraska leads the nation in attendance, averaging 8,218 fans per contest, while Wisconsin is third with 5,942 and Minnesota is fourth with 4,175. Penn State checks in at No. 5 with 3,554 patrons per match, while Michigan State ranks sixth with 2,800 and Purdue is seventh with 2,636 fans per contest. Illinois rounds out Big Ten programs in the top-10 in eighth, averaging 2,622 fans per match.

• Penn State has posted a .316 team hitting percentage this season, which ranks second in the nation. Nebraska ranks third, hitting at a clip of .306, while Minnesota is seventh with a team hitting percentage of .292.

• Penn State has limited its opponents to the lowest hitting percentage in the nation, allowing opposing teams to hit at a clip of just .127. Nebraska is 10th, allowing an opponents’ hitting percentage of .149.

• Minnesota’s Samantha Seliger-Swenson ranks fifth nationally with 11.68 assists per set.

• Illinois’ Ali Bastianelli leads the nation with 1.78 blocks per set, while Maryland’s Ashlyn MacGregor is ninth with 1.51 blocks per stanza.

• Based on past opponents’ winning percentage, Minnesota has played the toughest schedule in the nation, while Wisconsin has played the second-toughest schedule. Purdue is fifth on the list, Nebraska ranks eighth and Ohio State is ninth.
