Serbia‘s women’s volleyball team has been on the rise in the past few years, being named the most successful women’s team in Serbia for the eighth time.
The most recent successes for the team come as they earned their first medal for Serbia in volleyball along with a third-place finish at the 2017 FIVB World Grand Prix that took place in China. They capped off their international season with a gold medal at the European Championships that took place in Azerbaijan and Georgia this fall. The team’s head coach, Zoran Terzic was also named the Best Women’s Team Coach while the men’s coach, Nikola Grbic was named the Best Men’s Team Coach.
The team has amassed most of their success surrounded by a number of top players on the team, but none other than a youthful Tijana Boskovic who continues to impress for the Serbian squad. The 20-year-old received an award of her own as the most successful young athlete in Serbia. She played a large role in the team’s recent success, posting big numbers for the team each time she is on the court. Opposite of Boskovic in the award ceremony, men’s team player Drazen Kuburic was named the Best Male Player in Serbia for 2017.
On top of this award, Boskovic has been named the CEV Female Player of the Year, earned EuroVolley MVP honors and was named the Best Opposite at the FIVB World Grand Prix.
Now Boskovic is a member of Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul who sits in the top spot of the Turkish League with a 10-1 record.
