At the end of the 2018 season, the Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) has shown interest in hosting the Asian Men’s Seniors Central Zone Volleyball Championships. The consideration by the PVF is an attempt to grow the game in Asian as well as in Pakistan.
The championships would not take place until October as Pakistan’s age-group and senior sides have commitments up until September. The competition would be a 6 team event featuring Iran, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka and India if their suspension is lifted in time as well as the winners of the Asian Central Zone Group II Competition. The Group II competition holds a number of low-ranked teams including Nepal, Kyrgyzstan and Bangladesh.
The move to growing the game in Pakistan has come in many ways over the past year, including the PVF putting in an entry of national champions WAPDA in the 2018 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championships that will take place from July 30 to August 6. This will be the first time that Pakistan will take part in the continental club championships.
In other competitions that Pakistan will be taking part in this season are:
- 12th Asian Men’s U18 Volleyball Championships in Tabriz, Iran from June 29 to July 6
- 19th Asian Men’s U20 Volleyball Championships in Manama, Bahrain from July 21 to 28
- 6th Asian Volleyball Council Men’s Cup in Taipei City, Chinese Taipei from August 8 to 15
- 2018 AVC Men’s Challenge Cup from August 18 to September 2
