Olympic gold medalist and currently Scandicci‘s premier middle blocker, Adenizia Silva has recently gone through a traumatic situation. A thief broke into her house in Brazil in broad daylight and stole, among other things, her 2016 and 2017 FIVB Grand Prix gold medals. She desperately took to her personal Instagram page to make public surveillance pictures of the thief and ask for her medals back:
“Guys, yesterday I felt at risk in my own home. This thief broke into my house, took a computer, a playstation, jewels, watches, and worst of all, medals that I worked so hard for. Thank God we’re all fine, but it lefts us a feeling of impotence. Where will this violence lead us to? Please, if anyone sees the person in the picture, let us know. Please share this post.”
She then spoke to Globo.com about the situation:
“It was the only day in my life that I did not set up my house alarm. The thief stayed for about a half hour, made a mess, stole a lot of things, which I can buy again. What hurts me the most are the Grand Prix medals. He found them because they are recent, they were on display, easier to find. They weren’t with my other medals. Luckily, he didn’t find the other ones, as I have more than 200. My Olympic gold medal was on a safe. I never though something like this could happen. Please, give me back my medals, the rest I can buy again. I just want my medals back.”
