Polish setter Joanna Wolosz was one of the key parts of Imoco Conegliano`s Italian A1 title run this past season, captaining the team in all 50 games it played. One of the best setters in the world, Imoco`s captain was also won the Italian Finals MVP and Champions League`s best setter accolades. The club recognized her performance by offering her a contact extension, which she accepted. Here is what she had to say on an interview posted on the team`s official website:
“I’m very happy to stay in this club, for me it was a beautiful year: I returned to Italy after two seasons in Poland and I bet on myself, a winning bet because I grew up a lot as a player and as a person. I won my first Scudetto and I had the surprise and satisfaction of being MVP of the final play off. In Conegliano I found all the best conditions to do this job, the club is well organized, the company and technical staff is of the highest level, I like the city and above all there is a fantastic audience, playing at Palaverde is something magical, we have the best fans there are!
It has been a complicated year for the team, with many injuries and difficulties, but this has cemented the group creating during the season an incredible feeling between us players, which was our main weapon. Next year we will try to build on our performance. I am glad that the team is willing to keep this group as close as possible. Being able to count on a team that is already close-knit will be a great advantage against the other teams that are strengthening their rosters in the market. If we can recreate that fantastic chemistry that we have experienced this year, we can still achieve a lot next season.”
