Class of 2020 defensive specialist/libero Jenna Giambi has verbally committed to the Long Beach State University women’s volleyball program. Giambi would join the 49ers for her first season as a freshman in the fall of 2020.
Standing at 5’6″, Giambi will be a junior come the fall at Upland High School in California. In her most recent season as a sophomore, Giambi logged 327 digs (5.2 per set), 37 assists (0.6 per set) and 31 aces (0.5 per set) according to her MaxPreps profile. As a freshman she added 263 digs (3.2 per set), 94 kills (1.1 per set), 30 aces (0.4 per set) and 15 assists (0.2 per set) to start her varsity career.
On the club circuit, she plays with Forza1 North and the 17 Under Armour team. She also has a strong family lineage which can all be seen along with highlight videos of her play here via her Hudl page.
It’s the first class of 2020 commit for Long Beach State that has been registered in the VolleyMob Recruiting Database, although the 49ers have a pair of players in the class of 2019 in setter/right side Eliana Chavira and outside hitter/defensive specialist Savannah Lyons.
Long Beach State finished the 2017 season at 10-19 overall and 7-9 as a member of the Big West.
