#2 Stanford Volleyball Takes Care of #17 UCLA 3-0

2nd-ranked Stanford showed its talent in an impressive sweep of 17th-ranked UCLA to move to 3-0 in Pac-12 action and extend its win streak to 9 in a row Wednesday night.

The Cardinal, which is undefeated in Maples Pavilion since 2016 (24-0), outperformed the Bruins in attack percentage (.316 to .121), blocks (10 to 6), kills (55 to 28), assists (51 to 28) and digs (49 to 39).

Stanford has defeated UCLA in each of the last 3 meetings and leads the all-time series 51-37 following the victory.

After UCLA pulled ahead 5-2 in the opening set, Stanford used a 9-3 stretch to get back into contention. The Cardinal went on to break a string of 4 ties and establish a 22-16 lead with a 6-0 run. The Bruins could not respond, and Stanford claimed the 25-18 win.

Stanford came out firing in the second set, jumping out to a 10-5 advantage over the Bruins. With another 6-point scoring drive, the Cardinal were able to withstand a late UCLA push to secure the 25-19 victory.

In the third set, UCLA went up 8-3 early and led by as much as 5 before the Cardinal came rallying back. Stanford used a 7-1 stretch to pull ahead 16-14 and held the Bruins to just 3 scores from there to earn the sweep with a 25-17 win.

Kathryn Plummer (17 kills), Holly Campbell (14 kills, .400 attack percentage) and Meghan McClure (12 kills, .435 attack percentage) led Stanford’s balanced offensive attack. Jenna Gray orchestrated the night with 49 assists, Morgan Hentz logged 18 digs and Campbell added 6 blocks.

Mac May led the Bruins with 9 kills, while Kylie Miller posted 26 assists and Savvy Simo notched 13 digs.
