The Slovenian women’s national team is seeking a new head coach after Bruno Najdic’s contract ran out with the federation last year.
Najdic was able to guide the squad to a third place finish in the qualification tournament pool for the CEV 2017 European Championship; however, it was not enough to take them to the third round of qualifying and ultimately the European Championship.
When appointed, the new coaches contract will run until 2019 and will be expected to lead the Slovenia U23 team at the 2017 FIVB U23 World Chmapionship – which will take place in September in the Slovenian capital of Ljubljana.
The team is set to take on Estonia, Finland, France, Portugal and Germany in the qualifying pool for a place in the FIVB World Championships.
“This season out women’s national team will only compete in 2018 FIVB World Championship qualification tournament in Portugal,” said Slovenia Volleyball Federation Secretary General Gregor Humerca. “Since many of the girls in this team are still allowed to play on the U23 championship, we decided not to work with two separate programs.”
