Alabama is bringing on Ginger Perinar, a 6’2″ outside hitter transferring from Southern Illinois, for the 2017 season. Perinar will be a sophomore in the fall and is immediately eligible as she has three years left of play available for the Crimson Tide.

Last year as a freshman with Southern Illinois, Perinar was named to the Missouri Valley Conference All-Freshman Team. She was third on the Salukis in kills per set (1.95) and fourth in blocks per set (0.59) over the course of the 25 matches she appeared in with six starts. Her career-high in kills (15) came in November as she also had a season-best eight digs about a week later.

Prior to her collegiate days, Perinar was a four-year varsity player at Minooka High School in Channahon, Illinois. She was twice named to the All-Conference team and was All-State Second Team in 2015 as she totaled 987 kills (4.6 per set) in her final season at the prep level.

Currently, Alabama has six other outside hitters on its roster, as Perinar will have the opportunity to play right away, but will be competing for playing time with several others. Last season, Alabama won 20 matches as they finished at 20-11 and 9-9 in SEC play. They will look to build on 2016 into this season as they go for their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2014.
