The AVCA has announced their selection for AVCA Division III Player of the Year in Calvin’s outside hitter, Anna Kamp. Volleyball greatness runs in the Kamp family, as she is now the fourth Kamp sister to earn this prestigious honor – Rebecca Kamp (2011), Lizzie Kamp (2012) and Maggie Kamp (2014).

Kamp was awarded the honor at the NCAA DIII Championships Banquet in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In addition, Kamp will also be awarded at the AVCA All-American/Players of the Year banquet on Friday, December 15 in conjunction with the 2017 AVCA Convention in Kansas City, Missouri.

Kamp helped lead Calvin to a 30-4 record in 2017 including a perfect 16-0 in conference play. The Knights ended their season early, as they lost to top-seeded Wittenberg in the NCAA Division III semifinals.

On the year, Kamp posted 458 kills for an average of 4.16 kills per set on a .281 hitting percentage along with 259 digs. This season, Kamp also recorded her 1,000th kill back in October. With Kamp being just a junior, she has the chance to continue to bolster her kills with one more season on eligibility with Calvin.

Kamp’s 2017 Honors

  • AVCA Player of the Year
  • AVCA First-Team All-American
  • All-MIAA First-Team
  • MIAA MVP
  • AVCA Great Lakes Region Player of the Year
  • AVCA Great Lakes All-Region Team
  • Bloomington Regional All-Tournament Team
  • MVP of the NCAA DIII Regional Tournament

Kamp is the fifth player in Calvin history to garner the honor.
